Rescue & Evacuation Sheet

How to use the EVATEX Rescue & Evacuation Sheet

Place the EVATEX Rescue & Evacuation Sheet on the bed under the mattress.

The label has to arrows showing the direction in which the rescue & evacuation sheet must be placed on the bed

The rescue & evacuation sheet has a handle at the top and at the bottom

It has 2 security belts on each side

Each belt must be folded in half, and once again in half, with the buckle end on the outer edge

... then slip the folded belt into the loop leaving the bit after the buckle hanging

Now the rescue & evacuation sheet is ready

Place the mattress on the rescue & evacuation sheet, and secure it to the mattress on all four corners

Place the bottom sheet on the mattress as usual, tucking the straps under the mattes

Place patient’s arms down along each side of the patient, and cover with the bed coverings

Pull the belt of the rescue & evacuation sheet from under the mattress on each side

... snap them closed and secure the  patient by pulling them snugly

Holding the handle at the foot of the bed, pull mattress across the bed

With 2 hands, pull the mattress across, until it is perpendicular to the bed frame

... now in one swift movement pull the mattress to the ground

... quickly pull the patient out of the room and into safety

in this case down the stairs...

Position the mattress as close as possible to the outer side of the stairwell so when you get down to the landing, you can turn the corner easily, before going down the next flight of steps.

Turn facing down, and in one swift movement run down the steps pulling the mattress behind you

Turn the corner and pull the mattress down the next flight of steps

and out into safety...
