The patient must have the arms down and under the covers, and both security belts must be snapped on an pulled snugly.

Make sure all bed covers are on the mattress, not hanging on the sides over the edge of the mattress
Hold bottom handle with 2 hands and pull mattress across until it is perpendicular to the bed frame.
When pulling the mattress down the stairs, be prepared to run, since once the mattress starts sliding, it moves quite fast.
It is not uncomfortable nor scary for the patient, it is rather fun!
When pulling the mattress off the bed on to the ground, do it in one swift movement
